The split day

Quito, Ecuador + the Equator

Today I went to the middle of the earth: the equator!
I got to step on both sides of the earth: north and south hemispheres. Right on the equator, I go to balance an egg and got to see how the water swirl changes depending on being on the different sides of the equator. This was fun!

the equator

Here I am jumping on the middle of the earth.

I got to learn that the indigenous people eat guinea pigs! I also got got to see how they would take a head of a dead person, take the skull out, make a special potion to shrink the head, stitch the mouth so the dead would not speak, put a rock inside and then hang it so they could see it.

I got to see a boa constrictor, HUGE spiders, disgusting worms and a fish called penis fish….don’t ask me why that name!! I got to see a HUUUUGE crater where a volcano once was but then exploded.

I bought a flute and also the smartest idea: the indigenous people against the conquistadors in a chess set ! how smart is that?!! I got to see  a church covered completely in gold…i wish i could take some home!

golden church

Iglesia de la Compania – One of the most imprssive churches which is completely made with gold on the walls and ceiling.

Talk to you when I get to Galapagos, travelers !!!
Hasta luego, amigos !!!
